He was one of Jazz's most notable musical eccentrics,as well as a supreme clarinet player, he played on the early recordings with Coleman Hawkins and Henry Allen.........name him.

OK, you're talking about one of my three all-time favorite clarinet players (along with Lester Young and Sidney Bechet): the great Pee Wee Russell.

The references to Red Allen and Coleman Hawkins really threw me. I associate Pee Wee much more with the Eddie Condon gang, as well as with Louis Prima. Red Allen and Coleman Hawkins played much more with other clarinet players. But you are right that Pee Wee had the opportunity to play with both at one time or another.

Okay. I'm a prolific soul jazz drummer with New Orleans roots. I started out as Leo Morris. On one Lou Donaldson LP I was Cleopas "Mopedido" Morris. Today the world knows me by my Muslim name, namely....??????
