I just joined the forum and Tom directed me to this area to introduce myself. I am from Chicago and looking for some serious blues lovers here. In today�s society, it seems like my type of music is considered odd ball or people just do not appreciate it. I have a heck of a time trying to find someone who 1) wants to see any blues act and 2) if I do strong-arm someone to tag along, they don�t appreciate it at all. So I have decided that I need to hang out with some like-minded people.

I am a bit older, 43, but young at heart. Music is everything to me though.

I too am in Chicago. I don't get out to live music much at all. My wife and I have a 40-something woman friend who also loves to go hear live blues. I'll ask her if she wants me to forward you her email address. She is partial to Rosa's on Armitage.

Meanwhile, Look around this forum and I'm sure you will find topics of interest to read or add to. If you don't find one right away, it is easy to start your own topic.

Welcome Jamie. You've indeed come to the right place for blues music discussion. This place is absolutely amazing for fans of blues music. Drop by often and particpate in the discussions and yes, start some of your own. If I were you, I'd take The Shuffleking up on his offer and check out his show. Love to hear what folks think.

You guys are making me feel so young, and I haven't felt that way in a while.

I keep wondering when I am suppose to act my age, you know.

But I still just want to listen to good music, have fun, and good conversation with people about....what else...music. Whenever I go to a party, if I can find someone even with the slightest knowledge of rock/blues, I'll talk to the sun comes up about the true meaning of song lyrics, history of the song, how it was recorded and it goes fricken on and on.

My kids know so much...because I talk about that shit all day long. I hope they don't have bad memories of me....even though I am a good mom.

Thank you bluejay. I love being called a kid.

I use to own a cottage in Whitewater and you are right, we from Illinois would drive up for the weekend, distrupt all the locals, then leave on Sunday. We would take out the trash to the street and recyleables.

I was always so embarrassed on Sunday, leaving to return to Illinois, because there would be mountains and mountains of beer cans beeming out of the recyleable containers. There would be house after house with the Sunday night offerings and I knew they were from Illinois.

Whitewater? I've still got a 4 1/2 hour drive north after that! As for the beer bottles, if we had a deposit law like Michigan, we could make money off what the Ill-annoyans leave behind.

Anyway, I always have a good time when I come down to the Windy City. Next visit will be in early February for the Strictly Sail show at Navy Pier.
