I am Rick - just a guy who ended up in the blues markets many many years ago - I started playing guitar in 1963 - mostly surf instrumentals of the day - then the british invasion - hahaha - I went to south florida in 71 and played the rock rooms - mostly in ft lauderdale area - next stop was Macon Ga. - during the Capricorn record heyday - I ended up in Chicago in 77 - I stumbled into a blues bar on the northside - Biddy Mulligans - a band called Bob Reidy Blues Band was playing - this was the baddest blues band I had ever come across - it featured Sam Lay and Carey Bell - I told Bob Reidy if he ever needed a player I was available - hahaha - I didnt know anything about blues at that time - so - several months later Bob called and offered me the gig on bass - I said sure and flew to Lincoln Neb. the next day - I didnt know any of the material but started that night at the Zoo Bar with them - that began my blues years - the first blues band I get in is with Sam and Carey - through that band I played with so many others - AC Reed, Phil Guy, Detroit Jr, Big Twist, Eddy Taylor, Koko Taylor, Melvin Taylor, Eddie Clearwater, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley - many more during that time - anyway, this year I landed a gig with Smokin Joe Kubek out of Dallas - just when I was getting ready to start with Joe I got a call from Walter Trout - he needed a temporary bassist as Jimmy Trapp was very ill - so away I went for the summer tour - then a tour in Europe - I got hired full time and just finished the third trip to Europe - I didnt expect any of this - life is very interesting - Walter Trout is one of the finest people I have met in this business - the band is smokin good - and I am just a lucky guy - and at my age - hahahahahahaa
