I'm looking for a related book. All books at amazon are not available, or 199$ for A-K, a lot for half of the deal, and without the ability to order L-Z anyway.

I'd suggest trying Red Lick for a copy of Volume One of Blues Records 1943 to 1970 - the most recent Post-war discography. I strongly doubt they have Volume Two but they did have an overstock of the first Volume some time ago. The original Leadbitter/Slaven guide Blues Records 1943 - 1966 (mentioned by Hawkeye) is severely outdated and probably only of interest as a collector's item as it is laced with incorrect information including recording dates, locations, and personell.

As I understand things, when the updated volume was published (in 1987) sales numbers were quite below what was expected. Because of that, when the second volume went to the publisher, they based their numbers on sold copies of Volume 1 not thinking that copies would still be selling years later. There are many interested parties who have only Volume 1 of the updated format. I contacted Paul Pelletier and was told (as were many other collectors) that both volumes would "soon be republished" and this was a couple years ago - and there's been nothing done since that I know of.

Hawkeye and Blueswriter, thanks for the information , and in case you hear about a A-K + L-Z set for a resoanble price, I will appreciate it if you note me. I don't want to have only A-K , I'd rather take the lesser 1943-66 with errors than have only 1/2 of the artists.

I just looked at redlick and saw the book for 2 pounds , I ordered but I guess it's a mistake.

Volume One A to K of the Post-war discography is about 800 pages itself whereas the initial book when published was under 400 pages total. You may be getting only half the alphabet but it's a far better piece of work with a ton of information that wasn't researched in the first run of the book.

Hi,

After the initial release of volume 1, additions were published monthly in Blues & Rhythm - does anybody know if such additions/corrections were made for volume 2 ?

FYI:

Dave Sax had mentioned that he and Les Fancourt were getting close to finishing a Revised Blues Records 1943-1970. I have no idea on time frame but I'd guess it should be coming out soon.
