David 'Fathead' Newman and ...????

Teebeeferris . . .
Did you know a jazz bass player named Alex Camp, who played with David "Fathead Newman and Red Garland alot, mid seventies? There were some spellbinding Sunday afternoon-evening jams at a club on Northwest Hiway near Harry Hines, sometimes Red Garland would come play....all the bar-be-que shrimp and beer you could drink. Can't come up with the name of the club - a lounge with numbers for its name

Yes, I remember Marshall Ivery from those days...I also remembered the name of the club...It was Suite 113, I believe. Good times, those.

I used to sing with Bill Tillman, formerly of Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Marchel Ivery is a fantastic saxophone player. I wish that he would play more often outside of Texas. I especially like the record that he did with Cedar Walton:

marchel did another cd , with this jazz guitar player from nashville , and the cd sounded so good , cant think of name right now but will research it . i have been fortunate to be around marchel for years . he deserves more credit than he gets , what a player !!!!! heres a pic from 89 with Robert Harwell (juke jumpers ) Marchel Ivery, Robin Sylar, ft.worth at west side soul ...... we were all over at hash browns house , getting all the horn parts ready for the ZuZu record, notice the baritone player (mike strickland ) on right , stevie vaughan was looking for him to play on one of his record , after the zuzu album came out but we could not locate him to tell him the good news , mike had moved up north some where , no address.....if you see him , let mike know next time leave your address !!!! teebee

Holy smoke ! Robert Harwell...I loved his playing and worked with him in Jack Calmes' Forever Fabulous Chickenhawks! Really a good player...Always felt lucky when he was on the gig !
