My blues-cd-of-the-month-club cd came yesterday. I love this club 'cause it's always something off the wall. This month's selection is from a band called Taxi Chain. I beleive they are from the Toronto area. It's a country-blues-celtic with lots of horns kinda sound, and it is really good. I wouldn't go so far as call it a blues cd, but a couple tunes could qualify. The singer also plays the pipes, so pretty much everything with the pipes is instrimentels. They also have a fiddle, mandolin, sax, some banjo and organ along with guitar, drums and bass. They seem to be a very tight group, and whatever it is they are doing, they are doing it very well. There is no mention of a web site in the liner notes, but it is on Northernblues Music, and maybe they have a link. Check it out, it's pretty cool.
