Now in its 6th year since moving to Fort Purbrook, Portsmouth (UK), check out www.bluesatthefort.com for details.
We are a bunch of enthusiasts who run this event purely for the fun of it, with all proceeds going to good causes and local charities. BATF is run over two nights (24/25 September this year) with 3 bands each night.
We don’t do “slit yer wrists” type blues - our focus is on giving everyone a good time, with lively bands who know how to entertain a crowd. 30 different real ales, truck loads of lager and gallons of wine seem to help. BBQ food is also on offer.
The whole event is under cover in a huge marquee which is set up inside an historic fort – great location.
This year we have managed to book Sherman Robertson for the Friday 24 September after 3 years of trying to get him and previously seeing his European tour schedules miss our September date. Support is Bad Influence who are really good, believe me. Opening act, as ever, is a local band, the White Knuckle Blues Band. Interestingly this includes the drummer (Bernie Fox) who worked with Sherman Robertson way back when he came to UK to record with Mike Vernon. Saturday 25 September will be a great night for filling up with loads of beer then hitting the dance floor. Cadillac Kings headline with support from The Blackjacks and local band This Way Up.
BE THERE – it is a really good, fun event (but, of course, I’m biased)
