I think the super-long fingers in both the RJ photo and the alleged BB photo are at least in part due to an optical illusion caused by the relatively crude optics of the camera lenses used. A slight bit of 'fish-eye' effect from the camera lens would cause anything closer to the lens to appear disproportionately larger, and at the same time a small aperture would tend to 'flatten out' the depth perception so that you couldn't easily see that things in the foreground (the fingers) are obviously closer to the lens. But if you look closely, in both of these photos the subject's hands are (I'm guesstimating) a foot or two closer to the camera than their faces. In both their left arms are almost perpendicular to their bodies so that their fretting hands are extended directly towards the camera. In the "BB" photo, notice that the body of the guitar is angled slightly away from his own body, so his right hand resting on the body of the guitar is probably a foot closer to the camera than his torso is; also look at the way his right leg, which is slightly bent at the knee and extended a little bit towards the camera, also appears disproportionately large/long. Another thing: at first glance it looks like these guys are standing next to each other, but if you look at "BB"'s left shoulder, you can see that he's actually somewhat in front of the other guy, so his fretting hand is considerably closer to the camera than the other guy's face is. This creates a false sense of scale, making the viewer think the hand is huge when compared to the face.

Or maybe both guys really did just have huge hands...
