Hello all !

Mark Knopfler (ex-Dire Straits) has new double album called Privateering coming out soon and what is interesting is that it has several blues tracks in it. Kim Wilson plays great harmonica as a guest and it seems that those are some good blues. You can listen samples through UK Itunes, not US though...

been a huge fan of mark knopfler for years.
i've always looked upon him as a troubadour.
he can sing about anything, if he chooses.
similar somewhat in the same vein as j.j. cale---to my ears.

i've culled and put together a mark knopfler
"best of" tribute---and it flows with deep rhythmic
vibes from start to finish.

moody surrealistic leanings in his music.

mark knopfler is fantastic. (imho)

did i mention i dig mark? :^)

Exactly my thought when I first heard Dire Straits first couple of albums back in the early 80's.

Mark Knopfler is good at whatever he pursues.

Everybody looks good at the starting line. Get on your mark,get ready but you better keep this in mind. You can hit the ground running like you're shot from a gun but going the distance is the hard part son. Everybody looks good at the starting line.

When I first heard "Sultans of Swing" on the radio, I said to my then-husband, "I think that is Bob Dylan on speed."

Have been a huge fan of Knopfler ever since. Have all his cds.

Among the musicians involved in the recording are Guy Fletcher, Richard Bennett, Glenn Worf, Paul Franklin, Ian Thomas (drums), Jim Cox, keyboards, Phil Cunningham, Mike McGoldrick and John McCusker.
