11 days ago, I placed an order for 6 CDs directly from Alligator Records, a bit more than $100.
My credit card was charged immediately.
Today I call to find out why the order hasn't arrived. I get this very rude, indifferent customer service guy on the phone who simply didn't give a shit about me or my order. His entire attitude shouted, "Your phone call is a nuisance!"
He asked, "What'd you order?"
I said, "Here's the order number...."
He stops me, and barks: "No, do you know what you ordered?"
(In other words, the order number on the invoice is meaningless to him to track an order)
At this, I knew this was really going to be a painful phone call.
"Yes, I know exactly what I ordered, I'm looking at the invoice/receipt you sent on July 31, I ordered 6 CDs"....
Big sigh, and he says "What's your name?"
After placing me on hold for several minutes, he coldly tells me that my order shipped earlier this week (a week after they charged my card), by media mail. In other words, it might be here sometime this century, given the slowness of media mail. No apology for charging my card immediately and sitting on the order for a week. Just a rude guy who doesn't care, and makes that very clear to this customer.
Now I have to ask: in this day and age, how many people are buying Alligator compact discs? Only dummies like me, I'd guess, who still want physical media. So what's with the attitude this guy served up to a paying customer?
I told him I didn't like his attitude, and that I'd just placed my first and last order with Alligator. Great music, lousy customer service. Somebody kick me if I ever think of ordering from them again.
