Anyone have a title to add to the list of stupid prices for books?

Charley Patton by John Fahey $529.45 and 140.60
King of the Delta blues Calt Wardlow 187.70 and 95.99
Tommy Johnson David Evans 76.00 and 45.73
Me and Big Joe Mike Bloomfield 352.96 and 145.00
Knowing when to go to the library Priceless

Just because they are asking those prices does not mean they are getting them. Usually what happens is someone else sees those prices, then puts it on eBay, then they sell for $35, if they sell at all.

When I started looking for a copy of Sammy Price's autobiography it had one of those ridiculous prices on it. That brought out more into circulation and now they are reasonable. I think I paid $25 for mine because I had patience and just waited.

well these are on amazon and when I have contacted them directly they said nope to even a small reduction in price. Patton Calt and Wardlow have lots of them at that price and have for over two years. Can't believe there are that many Patton fans willing to shell out that kind of cash.

Me and Big Joe was one of the most worthless books I have ever read and judging by the writing, Bloomfield was functionally illiterate.

I like both patton books but not that much and big road blues has most of the Tommy Johnson info in there

Specifically with the Studio Vista books (Fahey & Evans) I think they'll fetch the money as their highly collectible, as a set... that price for the Tommy Johnson can be beaten a little, on abebooks.com and isn't as high as these can sometimes fetch. I was lucky and completed the series with the Patton a couple of years ago but never paid more than £20 (usually about £5 for any one of them). On a particularly lucky day shopping in London (late 90s) I discovered they had unearthed a stock of these books in a warehouse somewhere and were selling them at Ray's and Compendium in Camden as new, for a fiver - later on I walked to Foyles and got Calt's Patton book and the Skip James as new (not bragging, just saying - what's on the bookshelves one day is a rarity the next)
Naturally for 'collectibles' and rarities the actual quality of writing is almost irrelevant. The notorious Skip James book, before it was recently republished was even more expensive than the Patton.
