Well, thanks everyone. We do, of course, play well, and all that -- but -- it's not Johnny's organization that "requests" us. This is a benefit of being the closest thing to a house band that Famous Dave's has got. Sunday night (which this is) is our regular night. So, instead of just laying us off for the night (which they do, sometimes, anyway) they gave us the opening slot. James Cotton is playing Sunday 4/29 -- next week -- and we get Jack Squat.

I'd say, "Swell!" Playing for a packed house that came to see some music ain't bad at all. To be perfectly honest, however, I would have to recommend that people live with their fond memories of Johnny, rather than see him now. The fire ain't out, but it's smoldering these days.

I've seen him last July and just recently. I stand by my appraisal. However, for a different take on the Apr. 22 show, read the review in Blue Monday -- what we've got for a blues newspaper, hereabouts. The reviewer practically wets himself.

Added bonus! In the same review, perhaps the most hideous photo of me ever published. Actually, not as bad, on-line. The vagaries of color newsprint publishing render a pretty cadaverous looking Moses in the dead-tree version.

Nice meeting you too, Tom! Let me know when you get up this way again...

And I DO wear a hat, most of the time -- and glasses too, which may have changed the sunken-eyes aspect of that pic -- but, it got hot up there and I took the hat off. After my glasses fell down my nose too many times, I took those off too -- which is VERY rare for me. Oh well...
