Name at least one Hammond-organ-playing frontman who recorded "Got My Mojo Working".

No.. if you anything you're a bad blues fan if you ain't digging JS's groove

Which guitar player (and occasional jump blues bandleader) was known to associate with Frank Edwards and also the New York scene musicians Ralph Willis and Brownie McGhee.

nope...

Since these guys are obscure - my only hint is that he was a member of the unrecorded Atlanta-based "Star Band" which featured Frank Edwards and Georgia Slim (who made records)

...oh and he also played the washboard

Well, that was enough of a hint for me put two and two together, with the help of my copy of the Atlanta Historical Bulletin Summer, 1977 special Atlanta music issue.

I believe that it's Leroy Dallas.

Okay, here's the new question:

This pre-war Georgia bluesman had the same name as a jazz/big band trumpet player. He didn't record under his real name, though - he used a nickname. What was his real name, and what was his recording name?

First hint:

Our guy only made two records under his name (or nickname) - one for Columbia in 1928 (recorded in Atlanta) and one for Brunswick in 1930 (recorded in Chicago).

Okay, to start with, the part of my question about our Georgia bluesman having the same name as a jazz/big band trumpeter is confusing, because it's based on a misreading of one of my sources. Our guy's middle and last name match the name of the trumpet player. Sorry about that.

To make up my error, here's another hint, which should nail it for someone here:

Our bluesman recorded in Memphis in 1930 as part of the Beale Street Rounders, with Jed Davenport on harmonica.

You've got it!

Sorry about the confusion as to Too Tight's first name. The other day I was listening to his four solo sides, and the notes to the CD were kind of ambiguous in their wording. I misinterpreted them to mean that Too Tight's first name was actually Lee, but that was his middle name, obviously.

Lee Castle was also the name of an excellent trumpet player who played with Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, and Benny Goodman.
