A session of 10 Pre War Blues songs with someone newbye...

I think I'll start with Candy Man / Mississippi John Hurt I love the song, it has good rhythmic flow and one cannot but appreciate the humour and beauty of this piece. Already a good start.

Then I'll go for something like Crow Jane / Carl Martin, it is a unique song, somewhat, most of the time the guitar speaks, and you have fingersnaps effect game, and the music swinging.

Next one will be a Delta Blues with good quality recording, like Depot Blues / Son House, the Library of Congress recordings of Son House has both the Delta Blues sentiment and Son House most sophisticated input on guitar, his vocals are priceless and the deep way he express himself through his performances can be felt over the music.

Next one would be a Blues with washboard, Jivin' Woman Blues / Blind Boy Fuller is a good choice I believe, a good song and Fuller singing and the solo part are nice and going well with the ear, despite the sound of the washboard and Fuller's sound.

I like the enviroment Peach Orchard Mama / Big Joe Williams offers.

Another Delta Blues with My Little Girl / Tommy McClennan, both songs has good bass imply that was very important in the 1930's.

Key To The highway / Jazz gillum, I like Big Bill's guitar and the way Gillum's harmonica works with it, and most people hearing this, they somehow know to appreciate it faster than other songs.

New Boweavil Blues / Ma Rainey has the old Blues sentiment, despite it is "Classics Woman Blues"- the singing of Rainey are in the same style of the Country Blues singers and she has a huge voice. It affects, I think it's like Howlin Wolf's voice and the affection on Chicago Blues listeners, that's what I want to achieve here at the same time introducing woman Blues.

From that I'll continue with What Will I Do? / The McCoy Brothers because the Robert (Nighthawk) Lee McCoy harmonica has a beautiful tone and licks, and I want to introduce the instrument.

Finishing with All By Myself / Big Bill Broonzy, a beautiful Urban Blues with Big Bill vocals and guitar solos, and Memphis Slim doing some Boogie Woogie and Blues mix as far as I'm concerned, and I want to introduce this side of Blues too.

Try saying it was the extreme hardcore, and put something else. I had several people turned on to something in Blues but the attitude was important in this process, first thing is not to be a DJ but to explain what is Blues music, and to give short description of the styles and why Blues styles differ, that is how one realise that if something sounds "too much", there are other and different sounds. Another point in a nutshell is the functions Blues music can serve to a listener, omitting one of the points makes the listener get twisted picture because the blues is so confusing. I wouldn't go for cheating like using post war to "soften" someone into the prewar for ethics reasons: I don't like to be cheated so why I do it to others. In China there are 1400 times less chances to get cancer, just because they are not using milk and some diabetes are not existing unless milk was consumed. And this simple statistics is not offered to the public in the west to make their choice, which means : cheating (several industries gains from this cheating). I am against it, I prefer plain and simple, let the guy make his choice, if Pre War Blues swings his boat, alright, if not fine with him, alright as well. Up to him to decide between the healthy Pre War Blues music and the industrial music offered to him. I want to give him the knowledge and let theys make them choices
