If not for a couple songs (with Cryin' Sam Collins on guitar) on a Mississippi Delta Blues CD, I'd never known he existed. You will not find him mentioned anywhere else. I wouldn't be mentioning him now if he hadn't shown that he had ..it. He like other one record Delta singers Rube Lacy, Mattie Delaney and Bobby Grant could have....... but didn't.
As all of you reading this know it's not uncommon to find these guys in places they don't belong. A CD featuring Delta Blues....Blind Willie Johnson? Blind Willie McTell? On that CD I mentioned...King Solomon Hill? How does anyone know that Fox and Grant or William Harris who I do think was an Alabama players not a Delta one.....were actually from the Delta? Or is it....does it really matter? I'm ok with everyone from Mississippi being from the Delta...ha~~~ but not those from Texas, Louisiana or Georgia.
I hate to mix....Texas, Alabama, Delta etc etc....when in reality someone doesn't belong. Yes region/style is important, to me anyway.
