Just stumbled on this group while looking for the old blues-l. I'm a piano player in California and look forward to sharing my passion for blues and boogie woogie piano and the other things that influence us. So who are some of your favorite players, albums with great piano, etc. What's your dream gig? Spann does it for me, and of course Sunnyland. Favorite stuff this week: Otis Spann and Peter Green playing together.

Welcome. I assume you know or know of Carl "Sonny" Leyland and Wendy DeWitt? Two of my fave west coast piano folks. Also love Christian Dozzler, aka "Vienna Slim", locally (DFW). The new issue of Living Blues (#217) is a piano issue!

Welcome from me too, a piano player (plus I play guitar and sing as well).

Otis Spann is my favourite with Elmore James' Little Johhny Jones as a very close second.
Really like Roosevelt Sykes too.
Really like Big Maceo Merriwether and his crazy left hand (well, both his hands are crazy !!!)

im a guitar player mostly but also a big fan of blues piano!

i play a bit of blues piano- and have a 'you tube' site where i post songs etc.

its always great to have more enthusiastic piano blues afficianado's around!
i like all the blues piano players you mentioned- Otis Spann, Sunnyland, also roosevelt sykes and Professor Longhair/tuts washington and Johnnie Johnson - they are all so awesome!

there's a lot of threads about piano players and songs in the archives that are fantastic and im sure you would get a lot out of it!

there's also some really wonderful piano players that are members here but also people that know lots & lots of stuff about anything blues related and im sure you will get a lot of great info, humour and fellowship from the kind and knowledgeable folks that frequent this site -

Love my buddy and BBFer, Lee Pons, and have a new dude to watch that I saw at IBC - Ron Tanski - of course all the old guys got something to offer too -

I play mostly custom instruments, from my frankenstein tele to the handmade lap steels aka Sipsy River steels, Larrivee acoustics, Crate, and Mesa Boogie amps, Snake Oil Brand strings on my electrics, DR and Elixers on my acoustics.

My favorite blues piano players ? I love everyone who was already mentionned, including our own amazing Lee Pons, but I have a sweet tooth for a guy from your neck of the woods who goes by the name of Rob Rio. The man is very, very good !
