Where can I find backing tracks/ jam tracks?

Now I have an amp with aux in I thought I could plug in my CD walkman and play along with some blues songs, but where can I get just the backing tracks, kinda just the drum part and bass to play along to? Anyplace to download them for free? Id really like to jam along to Keys to the Highway and stuff like that.

Larry, I think you'd get more attention if you posted this kind of question in the Jam Session. It'snot just for pros, but really for any musician, from beginner to well seasonned ones.
Also, if you search the jam session, you may find there was a thread about your very question a while ago. I don't have the time to search now as I'm at work, but I remember several links to blues backing tracks were posted.

Naaaaah... It's just the music room in this big family home, Larry.
And there's no lock on that door.

I Personally Make My own Tracks But there are many places on sound click.com to down load Beats to play in front of .

If you look back here on Jam Session there have been a lot of them posted Of course Google is a good place to start

It will be a good learning tool and will teach you timing and Metering

"Band in a Box" software is great. I used it years ago. You program in the timing and chord progressions that you want, and it gives you a ready made back up band. It is a good learning tool.

I`ve used it a lot recently with my newly acquired Pedal steel. It has Country, blues, jazz progressions and more..Various styles and tempos as well.

I see what you mean.

The version I used to used was a free download. Not as fancy as the current version, but it still did the job. I can see why you might hesitate to pay out for the modern version.

When I used Band in a Box about 20 years ago, it was dirt cheap. I wish I had it now.

There are very good quality backing tracks available from www.licklibrary.com Not the cheapest but the quality is better than the free ones.

A few years ago, I got a lot of help by everyone here about my book of 2,000 blues licks. The book is going to be published soon, with Ha Leonard as distributer. It will contain three CDs of 80-some backing tracks played by the same band. I got the funding for the recording sessions, but didn't play on them myself. These guys are really, really good and add more nuance and structure than backing tracks made on a computer by copying and pasting a 12-bar pattern over and over. Nonetheless, I can see the merit in using programs like Band in a Box. I just wish people would incorporate more human-ness in the renditions.
