Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.
I start off 2012 with my favorite CD from 2011...

The Kings earlier records were all good, but this one has just that much more grit and heart to make it stand out. The music's country roots are shown here to good effect.

Big Walter's fabulous solo on 'Walking By Myself' was one of the main things that made me want to play harp.

Got the ipod loaded up pretty good. Here's some live Magic Slim on the Wolf label featuring personal favorite John Primer. Love the loose feel of Slim and the guys onstage.

From 1996, featuring our own Twist Turner on drums (I hear similarities with the Blindman's playing here), Studebaker John on harp, Rockin' Johnny on guitar, etc. Real Deal Chicago blues.

This particular Delta may not be in Mississippi, ut it has still produced a fair amount of great blues talent. I great trip down memory lane for me as I've seen most of the musicians on here live, either with the bands on this disk or others, now long since gone.

JLW was signed by Alligator and will have a new cd out soon.

Sugar Ray & The Bluetones are hands down the best Blues band in New England. They have had a few different guitarists over the years (and what guitarists - Ronnie Earl, Kid Bangham and Monster Mike Welch). The other four guys have been playing together for over 30 years now; they still do nothing but the Blues and boy do they do it right!

I concur. I dig all Ray and the Bluenotes stuff. The edge on this one is pretty interesting.

I don't know how I missed this one, but I'm with it now. Maybe because they never serviced KNON. Chalk one up for the Amazon.com recommendations ads. Most of what they list I have heard or already know about one way or another. After checking the sound clips I decided to take a flyer on it and I'm happy I did.

BMA best new artist debut 2011. Produced by Bob Margolin and Dave Gross. 10 original songs out of 14 and I dig 6 of them. Some nice harp by Tad Walters on 2 tracks and Dennis Gruenling on one. He has a new one in the can, but it's not out yet. More please....
