No one left?

Posts: 166 Nov 4 11 7:18 PM	Tags : None I am sure I know the answer to this but, is there anyone still kicking; even in a nursing home who got recorded before we entered WWII? There are still three remaining WWI veterans in the world. My contacts with the US Census and various Supercentenarian organizations agree that there are two african american women over 110 in Mississippi and adlercentenarians.org said that there is over a dozen black centenarians form Mississippi. Age wise it is possible but I cant find anyone else that did any recording pre war now that Honeyboy is gone. I hope their is a gem left out there.

Posts: 3874 Nov 4 11 7:33 PM	I know one locally...Herb Jeffries who recorded first with Earl Hines in 1933...Herb is STILL working...he was born in 1913 and his 1940 hit with Duke Ellington "Famingo" has sold nearly 50 million copies..... But he's a youngster compared to the still active Bill Tapia who was born in 1908 and played ---wrap your head around this......in the Woodrow Wilson White House DURING WWI.....he still does over a 100 gigs a year at 103........ Jimmy McCraklin is now 91 and only recently stopped working.......... Joe Houston is not playing any more but was born in 1926 and playing gigs prior to WWII. We just did a benefit for him and he's in a wheelchair but still with it, etc. I'm pretty sure there are no pre WWI players tho....!!!! "playin' the blues without any shoes....."
