Anyone recommend a good Junior Kimbrough cd? I've heard his later stuff on visits to the delta, but must say the "feel so good" song on the porsche commercial has really stimulated my interest.

On amazon, he's got a few cds, but I didn't see any compilations/
Any thoughts?

I am partial to the Fat Possum releases "All Night Long" and "Most Things Haven't Worked Out".

Never put off til tomorrow what you can do the day after.

Really imo you can't go wrong with any Jr Kimbrough but I do have a particular fondness for that collection that the version of "Feel So Good" you mentioned is from. It's an EP collection of his early Memphis recordings called "First Recordings"....definitely get it! there's a nice faster tempo version of "Meet Me In The City". This is a more uptempo than the space trance type of Fat Possum recordings he made later. I remember being struck, the first time I heard this collection how similar he and Walter Belfour sound and this was recorded late 60's I believe in Memphis.

There are only a handful of CDs. You might as well get them all. All Night Long is as good a place to start as any.

Though this might just sound like an attempt to name a cd that hasnt been mentioned yet - I honestly think 'Sad Days Lonely Nights' to be his greatest - very hypnotic with a heavy repetitious bass sound behind it, great stuff.

Yes, Sad Days, Lonely Nights would be another great place it start.

Sweet Tea album. Though the only Kimbrough cover from that collection I can think of is 'Done Got Old.'

Yea I kinda like all the stuff he put out I cant go for one particular recording or the other just a matter of what day it is as to what I put on when listening to him.
