This past weekend, Roger Stolle and I began filming our follow up to our award-winning 2008 film M For Mississippi. The new project is titled We Juke Up In Here and will explore what remains of Mississippi’s once-thriving juke joint culture.
Much of the film will be centered around the Delta’s most active contemporary juke, Red's Lounge in Clarksdale and its irascible owner Red Paden. Our production team will once again include cinematographer Damien Blaylock and sound engineer Bill Abel. Lou Bopp is joining our team for video and still photography. We Juke Up In Here is slated for an April 2012 release.
Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, here are a few stills from the first few days of production.
