As some of you may already know(Chris), I'm a huge fan of tenor sax player Eric Alexander. At this point I probably own close to 10 if not more of his releases. I really enjoy his tone. He's definitely old school. Some people have compared him to George Coleman. The consensus I've come across is either you really love him or you're less than impressed to say the least. The way I look at it, to have an old veteran by the name of Harold Mabern who plays on a good number of Eric's dates, across many years must be some sort of statement to his musicianship. I don't know if there are any other fans here, but in case there are, I'd like to hear your thoughts. What are some of your favorite dates? I'll add mine if there is any interest.

I have several of his albums, plus the Charles Earland records where he is a sideman. My single favorite track has to be "Let's Stay Together" off of:

I know, it's not one of his more adventurous outings, but I am partial to that Soul Jazz thing in the first place. And I've always liked the tune, whether the Al Green original or even the Tina Turner cover.

Slim, you've posted a few times on Eric's most recent release, "Don't Follow The Crowd". Any thoughts on that one? All Music Guide gives it a very positive review.
