I recently got my hands on Furry Lewis at Home in Memphis 1968

Walter 'Furry' Lewis (vocal and guitar) was recorded at 247 South Forth Street in Memphis, Tennessee (Furry's home) on 6 Septembre 1968 by Karl Gert zur Heide.
Out of print and very rare

You can hear kids playing in background and people talking kinda neat.

Love these home recordings, just like Bukka and Furry Home Party

I'll say it's rare, I've never heard of this recording, and I thought I had everything Furry ever recorded.

Is this vinyl or CD?

... seems to me like this is the Continental Europe release (Blues Roots SL 505) that came out in the UK as Matchbox SDR 190 ---> # 23 of my Furry Lewis discography

... or - if it's a CD - the 1994 reissue on the German Autogram label (ALCD-5805)

thanks lofi, I dig the black and white stuff. I thought I'd just take a shot at driving and shooting camera and hope for the best. Glad you liked em! Exposure stuff is fun to play around with also.

My friend Bob West put out a similar LP in the late 60's or early 70's of Furry and Bukka at home on ASP records, and if I"m not mistaken he's issued some other stuff with one or both on his new label........I'm forgetting the name of the label now I"ll have to look it up when I have time.

I'll post label details tomorrow, gotta get ready for a gig now

Twist, I think you're talking about Arcola Records. There was a story about Bob West and his label not too long ago in either Soul Bag or ABS, my favorite french blues mags.

This is currently shown as "Temporarily Out of Stock" on amazon.com....but the good news is that is apparently true, it's "temporary"!

Two weeks ago, I saw that notice and decided to place a "Pre-Order" for this title, and to my absolute amazement, it showed up in my mailbox today!!!!

It's a very fun recording, as GavinG has stated, though I will caution folks that the sonic quality is a bit muffled, it's not as good sonically as the Arcola home disc that has also been discussed in this thread.

But if you are a Furry Lewis fan, this is still a must-have. Casual fans, however, might not be as pleased, this wouldn't be my first recommendation to a Furry newbie.

I think Arcola may be working on another Furry Lewis one, Bob was supposed to be sending me some tracks to see if I can get some kind of noise or hum out of it for him.

Maybe not moving too quickly he was going to send it a month or so ago and it hasn't arrived yet.
