The mighty "West Side Soul" album by Magic Sam is being released in an updated version by Delmark early next year:

From the Delmark site:

One of the greatest blues albums of all time, West Side Soul was chosen by Living Blues magazine as one of it's top ten Desert Island Blues Discs. The new Digipak case contains previously unissued photos and 1960s pluggers (promoting west side gigs) from the private collection of Bill Lindemann. The source material for the CD is the original 1967 analog stereo mix by Stu Black who recorded many of Delmark's classic 1960s blues and jazz recordings. With Mighty Joe Young, guitar; Stockholm Slim, piano; Earnest Johnson or Mac Thompson, bass; Odie Payne Jr. or Odie Payne III, drums. 12 songs include That's All I Need, I Need You So Bad, Feelin' Good, All Your Love, Don't Want No Woman, Sweet Home Chicago and more. Also available: For the first time - an official Delmark West Side Soul T-Shirt!

I deeply regret how I never collected any of those posters back then,
as a teenager I constantly passed storefronts and lamp posts etc plastered with posterboards for Otis Rush and all that crew. Not only the 'soul' and 'west side blues' stars, but even pluggers for Sylvio's (Muddy, Wolf, etc.) It never occurred to me they would become valuable collector items. I could be rich! or at least have some nice gifts to send to BBFers!

AND I kick myself even more about not having recorded Big Bill Hill's live WOPA broadcasts man there was Magic Sam, Shaky Jake, Maurice Pejas, G L Crockett, I can't remember all the names anymore, but at least once instead of broadcasting from his usual Copa Cabana on Roosevelt and Central Park, I seem to recall Mr. Hill broadcast from the new Sylvio's at Lake Street and Kedzie with none other than Muddy Waters, I might have that wrong my memory is not reliable.

I never thought I'd hear myself saying these words but, please tell me they are go auto tune Mighty Joe Youngs guitar on the re-release, he's horribly out of tune, so bad that I can't even listen to the Lp anymore.

Even if that's true (it honestly never bothered me), you can't Auto Tune chords unless miraculously all the strings are out of tune pretty much exactly the same.

They could always hire Joe Bonamassa to play an overdub of the second guitar part so loudly that Mighty Joe Young would no longer be audible.

yeah I know you can't autotune chords, I just wish those little portable tuners had been invented then. Nobody knew how to use those big Conn Strobe tuners.
