It was a pleasure to meet all of you over this past weekend. You all made me feel very welcome into the fold. What a great bunch of people. The shoutout to Beach was one of the finest things I've ever been apart of - it was very touching, while at the same time being a hilarious time with new friends. My BBF pin will find a permanent place on my guitar strap, to keep reminding me of a great weekend getting to hang with you guys.....
I have a newfound respect for you folks that definitely goes beyond the typical discussion forum "friendships."

I definitely owe my new pal, backalleyblues a jam, having missed both days at handy's (I was helping my buddy dave recover his stolen truck from the boys in the hood in Memphis, and was out of pocket - long story). Maybe Suncoast George can get us down there sometime so we can make that happen - I also owe him (George) a package i was unable to deliver due to our truck adventure - I'll make that happen in the next few days......

anyway - love you guys!!!

I play mostly custom instruments, from my frankenstein tele to the handmade lap steels aka Sipsy River steels, Larrivee acoustics, Crate, and Mesa Boogie amps, Snake Oil Brand strings on my electrics, DR and Elixers on my acoustics.

yes it was stolen out of the public lot over by the Hard Rock on thursday night. Needless to say we were a bit occupied on the side trying to deal with that. Dave is the percussionist in the band and drags the equipment trailer wherever we go. He is a very "driven" individual to say the least, and he spent the weekend in the hood chasing leads to try and find his truck himself - as we all know, the chance of finding stolen vehicles is zero to none..... well, his persistence with the police and the recovery companies paid off - they found his truck!!!! minus one window and some cash, and it was none the worse for wear. UNBELIEVABLE

a word of advice - don't get talked into a card game with Dave

It was great to meet you as well. Sorry about David's truck. All of us David's have a bit of OCD

Josh Vowell's band van was broken into. The only thing stolen was CDs, CD player and a guitar effect or two. Other equipment was left in place.

The only downside to Memphis is that it is so crime ridden....I know many people that are from the city and never go to Beale for just that reason. Memphis needs to do something to clean up the area if they want more tourist traffic....I usually fly in and cab it to the hotel.

Yes, George we NEED to get together and have that dueling lap steel burn-down!!!! That Cypress knee steel was one of the prettiest things I've ever seen done with Cypress, and it sounded great acoustically-I can only imagine what it sounds like plugged in!

I'm with Sassie, it's a shame that it happened, and I'm glad Dave got the van back. By the same token, I was told NEVER to leave anything in your car or van-all my gear (and everybody else's, since I was designated driver) came up into our hotel rooms when we got there, and never left our sight the whole time. Memphis is a rough town, to say the least...

), you can pester him about how BAD you need to see your long lost friend, George, until he gives in and gets us down there.

Thanks, George. I'll get a package out tomorrow. I saw you post something about a vehicle misadventure of your own on the trip back..... did you guys roll the van from all your out of control laughter or sump'n?

Didn't get a lot of shots of BBF groupings due to working so much (I'll leave that for Brat), but here is one I did get from Wednesday night at the Rendezvous prior to the Meet & Greet. (Hope this looks alright, my monitor if you recall is dark and images get too light when I try to change them, so I left this alone hoping it is at the right setting).

Wow! Looked at the photo on my work computer and it came out nicely. Now I know not to try to brighten shots up on my home machine to avoid the washout on others.

That was a fun gathering, though for me too brief since I really didn't get much time to spend with anybody the rest of the trip. My own fault, though, just take on too much work I guess, but I really do enjoy it.
