Had the pleasure of sitting in with 18 year old Ricky Paquette (Gatineau Quebec) this past weekend. Ricky came to our town for two dates. The Friday (June 19) he played Le Pub Limoilou. The crowd just oozed, the kid goes over great. He has fine chops and has the long hair with piercing blue eyes. His voice is maturing and sounded much improved. Got to spend a little time with longtime friend Dominique Rominelli who handles the bass chores for Ricky. Ricky's parents made the trip and it was great to finally meet them. The next day Ricky and band played a Jimi Hendrix tribute show topped off by a Canadian first. The event Merci Jimi is basically as many guitarists as possible were invited to play Hey Joe all at the same time. There is an annual event held in Poland May 1. 6000 guitarists form 4 countries participated the this years event. Michel Rochette (Merci Jimi) organizer hopes to schedule the event to coincide with the Polish event.
I don't have any photos of the Merci Jimi event as I was one of the invited guests.
Ricky to all his credit, could not manage to smash the guitar in the famous burning of the strat.
