Got an invite this week and dropped in to find a great community. I didn't get into the blues really until after I started playing guitar about ten years ago, but its bitten me big time. I started with just electric blues, but the Delta stuff is near and dear to me now.

My tastes run from guys like Miss John Hurt to Hound Dog Taylor. Howlin' Wolf is probably my favorite though. I'm a pretty big music buff though so I have a few hundred choice blues CDs now and I'm always on the hunt for something new.

I play guitar, some bass, and I can blow on a harp though the notes just ain't right.

Welcome to the forum Mike. It's great to have you with us. Count me in as another huge Howlin' Wolf fan. Do you own the latest book, "The Life and Times of Howlin' Wolf" or own the dvd release "The Howlin' Wolf Story"? If not, make the purchase. You wont be disappointed. As a musician, please make a point of stopping by the "Jam Session" section on the forum. We have quite a number of musicians here. Enjoy the forum Mike and look forward to future contributions.

I really enjoyed the book and the DVD. There was some great footage in the DVD that I would have never expected. Sumlin is one of my favorite guitarists too so it was a treat to see lots of interview time with him.

Last year was a really good year for DVDs. Between the 3 volumes of AFBF, The Howlin' Wolf Story, the Memphis Slim / SBW II footage, and a Freddie Kind Live in Europe DVD I've really gotten to see some great footage.

Glad to have found this place really. I have friends that "like" the blues, but few really have any real knowledge on the subject. I look forward to learning lots from the group.
