added a Luke Jordan discography to my site
Any additions to the list of covers of 'Church Bell(s) Blues', 'Pick Poor Robin Clean', 'Won't You Be Kind' and 'Cocaine Blues' (I just noticed that I forgot Geeshie Wiley & Elvie Thomas, but that makes me think LJ might not be the inventor of 'Poor Robin...' ?!?) ???

Nice site Stefan, very well researched too!

Just thought you might like to know that the two tracks; "If I call you Mama"/"Tom Brown Sits In His Prison Cell" have appeared on a CD in "The Blues Collection" series, which was a part works magazine + CD collection, published by Orbis, which ran for 90 odd issues in the UK sometime in the late 1990's.

Jordans two tracks appeared on an issue titled "East Coast Blues". I can't remember the magazine number, but the CD's is: BLU NC084.

What makes it quite interesting is that this was the first CD to release those long lost gems, predating the Document "Too Late Too Late" by quite a few months!

Stefan, didn't see this on your page: Craig Ventresco plays "Cocaine," obviously lifted from the Jordan or Justice version (he credits Justice), on the "Crumb" soundtrack

I don't know if you really were trying to include everyone who has covered Cocaine Blues in your discograghy but if you were I'd add 2 of my favorites: The Holy Modal Rounders (I'm a hopelessly dedicated fan) and Sandy and Jean Darlington (who put out one superb record in the 60's). Seems to me there must be at least a couple dozen others. Not sure what your standard is. By the way great site you got goin there.

hi everybody, i found this (already vintage

) thread looking for Luke Jordan information...

i was wondering whether there was a record that presents his whole output with in release?

i'm pretty sure the guys who are responsible for all those Wolf, Document, RST and Earl Archives didn't forget to dedicate him a ""Complete Recordings Of ..." on one of their numerous releases. of course i could be completely wrong though

if anyone knows about a vinyl release please let me know.

This is the only CD currently in print that has all of Jordan's tracks, AFAIK. This also has them all but two of them (his last 78 is missing), but I think it's out of print.

Several tracks of his are also scattered on other CDs, often with better sound than the Documents.

No vinyl LP that I'm aware of.
