I just came across this video on another board.

Here's a great version of a Percy Mayfield (who happens to be one of my favourite songwriters) song. Eaglin does great justice to the song, and his very personal playing style is clearly evident also! Great stuff!

Thanks Pan-I love Snooks and his right hand is SO amazing-really fantastic! And of course Percy should be in every blues front persons songbook-can't go wrong with Percy Mayfield!

Snooks is phenomenal. His left hand is very idiosyncratic too (he does a lot of fretting with his thumb) plus he's a great singer with a vast repertoire.

Love Snooks!! Have only seen him a few times, but I remember the people taking him onto the stage in San Francisco and walking it with him so he knew the layout. Then during his set, he threw the guitar behind his head and started doing the old Chuck Berry duck-walk routine. Hopefully, with the re-releasing of the old Black Top material he will get a revitalized focus on his music again.

Snooks is one of those guys who can hold an audiences undivided attention all by himself, the only other person I've ever seen capture an audience like this was Charles Brown.

When I lived in New Orleans for a few months in the early 80's I'd go see Snooks with George Porter and Ziggabo every monday. I never saw a bad night and don't think I ever saw a bad song. It didn't hurt that Earl King would come in every so often and sit in either!

The Dream team! I love all those cats and have been fortunate to have played with Zig a few times after he moved to Oakland-talk about a groove!

I don't know about recording, but Snooks performs at the Rock n'Bowl (in NOLA) about once a month.

As far as I know, his last CD was The Way It Is from back in 2000.

I heard he could actually drive drunken band members home, "left here, Snooks..."

I know this is an old legend attributed to almost every blind Bluesman, but with Snooks, I almost believe it (I know some of the guys who actually rode with him...)

He played at an early (first?) Jazz Fest with Fess...

I might have seen some of you at those shows over the years in New Orleans.
Seen him more times than I can count...
