i thought i'd let those of you who i haven't seen around, know a little about me.
"discovered" the blues in my own life early, havin lost my dad when i was 4. my gramps use to call me mr. blue and sing songs and accompany himself on harmonica. everything from spirituals to swing to blues. when i was about 7 i heard percy sledge on a.m. radio, and i was hooked on that kind of music. later i heard jimmy reed, muddy, wolf, and others too. back then there were the "black" radio stations. them cats sounded too much better than most pop radio. still do if you can find the blues show on your local dial.
in my late teens i took up harp, partly as a way to be cool with my musician friends, partly because it made me feel better. we all have our trials i in life guess.
it's now 32 years since i first tried to make music happen with a harp, and i've come a ways. i spent 20-odd years in north texas, finding my way into plenty of adventures, musical and otherwise. hit a lot of jams, made a lot of great friends in the music community around dallas and denton. worked with and co-founded a few bands, hosted a jam, did a delta-style acoustic duo with a guy for a season.
3 years ago i moved to the little rock area, and for about 13 months i didn't do ANY music. near went nuts. changed my bread-winning focus, i'm poorer financially but i feel so much better! worked with a jukebox type band here last year, and am currently taking it easy, waiting for the right partner to show up. i still get out to jams, keep my vocals and harp chops up, and manage to have a good time frequently.
just a bit about me gals and guys.
