A lot of the early blues pianists like Cow Cow Davenport, or the Texas Thomas family, or Will Ezell, have pieces called 'rag', or pieces that sound like a low-down ragtime (presumably the poor cousin of the music of Joplin or Eubie Blake)... is this solely where blues piano comes from? Or do the 'rags' have more in common with the guitar 'rags' of people like Blind Blake or Willie McTell, which seem to have nothing to do with 'ragtime' as such.
