Hi, I just joined yesterday but before I could post I had to go pick up my kids from Boy Scout camp.
I got into blues and R&B in college, starting off with Lightnin' Hopkins and Sonny Boy Williamson. Then went on to the usual suspects---Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, T-Bone Walker, etc.---and had a serious John Lee Hooker habit for a while. Bought my fair share of Charlie and Yazoo and Chess compilations. I don't listen to blues all the time anymore, but it's long been a music I go back to periodically (like swing), renewing an old friendship you might say. A thread on another forum reminded my that I still didn't have any Lightnin' Hopkins on CD (and you can't play vinyl in the car) so before I knew it I'd grabbed five Hopkins comps and not all of it duplicates what I already had, thank God, so I've been happily listening to more Lightnin' than I had in a long time. It's been fun!
Anyway, glad to be here!
