Hiya,

I'm the 'new kid on the block'.'The Blues' has been my companion for more than forty years.Being an 'Old Skool' guy,I'm not that much impressed by nowadays Blues.
I love Blues,50s R 'n' B,60s Southern Soul,Cajun and Zydeco,Gospel,Sacred Steel Music,Jazz and related music forms.
I've been on a steady Jazz dieet lately (I'm happy to find a Jazz section down here.) I have 'crush' on ladies singers.I'll keep on learning,exploring and seaching for the 'Soul' in "The Blues'.
Looking forward to share my thoughts and feelings for 'The Blues' with you all,

Marc, welcome to the Forum! This is "Garageman" from days of yore and in another 'place'.
Everyone - Blue Escorpio was my 'Fount of knowledge' in another era. He moved on befrore I did and then I lost his new location. Great to see him here.
He and I are 'joined at the Hip" musically although I have yet to return heavily to the Jazz scene I was in for 30+ years. Still explorng the Blues I found about 10 years ago. Again - Welcome.

I see that Bull Durham already welcomed you from down here in SE TX, but let me put my welcome in also...

I see you like "lady singers"...
well last Fri night, me and Bull saw Miss Candy...she is from Pt Arthur and is a "pretty good sized" lady that sings the older "raunchy woman blues"...

I don't recall the name of the movie, but it was about black "gangsters" and Speakeasy life in 30's - 40's and their problems with the white politicians / law...you could say that Miss Candy was the inspiration for the role that Della Reese played in the movie...Eddie Murphy was in it...

anyway, welcome as you will like it here...

Thank you all for the warm welcome,it's nice to see some of my old 'cronies' from 'Tweeds' and 'MD'

And thanks pianoman for the links.I saw Ms. Candy with the Tom Hunter / Long John Hunter Band at the now defunct 'Blues Estafette' in Utrecht-The Netherlands.I've witnessed LaVelle at the 'Handzame Blues Festival' in Belgium. (one more fest that's gone to the dogs)

Marc, seeing how you spell your first name (with a 'c', not a 'k'), and reading about the festivals you've been to (Belgium, Netherland) make me wonder where you're from ?
I get it you're not British, and probably European. Are you French ? Belgian maybe ?

I have met a Flemish Belgian who plays the blues called Marc before, but I doubt he's over 40. That's Marc Thijs aka Marc T aka Tee.
He's a great ambassador to the Blues with a lot of Soul in it. Not to mention his good work helping out other blues artists such as Elmore D and Stinky Lou & The Goon Mat.
