Hi Bluesers,
some of you may know i`m a saxophonist totally dedicated to blues and it`s furtherment(as we all are on here) and seeing as i get around a bit and earn my living playing my horn , i do get to be a lucky so-and-so and get to play with some awesome musicians..but by far the one who wipes everyone is a guitarist named BOBBY PARKER.
I`ve been fortunate enough to do 2 tours with Bobby.
his history is impeccable-carlos santana said he wouldn`t have picked up a guitar if it wasn`t for Bobby---also, his major hit"watch your step"(1961/2?) was on john lennons juke-box,and the Beatles SO OBVIOUSLY copied most of the intro for "day tripper"..so....SO..!
so why doesn`t bobby get the recognition he deserves? Bobby is 70 yrs old now, but i`m telling you, he would still TEAR UP anyone.
i could go on for ever about his history ,who he knew, played with, influenced(LED ZEP..massively) etc...but i`m just posing a question, really...
in these times of stevie-ray clones, should`nt we be looking to find people like Bobby who were part of the original electric gunslinger set?
..maybe two questions, then.
