This great place usually is self-modded. Mods hate to step in. They'd love to be totally invisible/non-existent. However.......Just the occasional reminder to all, with no malice aforethought:
The only hard and fast rules around here are a) no politics and respect for others. Differing opinions are welcome - encouraged even, but please express respectfully.
The a) part is pretty simple. Political issues can be handled via PM or e-mail.
The part can be more problematic. The BBF is a great melting-pot of diverse folks from all over the globe, spanning many ethnic, religious, historical, gender, age backgrounds with varying experiences. We need to be sensitive to that, however, please read part c)
c) One big element of the BBF is humor. Speaking only for myself, I think we have tended lately to take things way too seriously. There are enough elements of the blues that should be taken seriously......but other topics that are offered as humor or "water-cooler" discussion....well, those can get uncomfy pretty quick, if taken too seriously.
d) (I post this with great care.......but here goes) In an apparent effort to over-PC things, it seems that the mere mention of "black" or "Afro-American" raises the hackles for some folks. This is a BLUES forum, and it stems from that (dreadful) period of history. We are here to celebrate/educate on this music that we love. Please don't believe that every mention of "black" is a slur. I'd believe we have few-to-no racists on this forum.
To sum up, let's get back to having some fun learning about/hearing/buying the BLUES. And let's respect each other in the process.
Oh, one PPS.........please feel free to PM a mod if you feel uncomfy with a situation or conversation. Click on the name and you'll get there. If you don't get satisfaction, write to Billy.
Good blues to all!
