Well Im a cajun from Louisiana, and I think that these are great zydeco performers. How ever being from here, I never heard of anyone being fake zydeco musicians, cajun french music and creole zydeco music is a bit different from blues in a way that if the music sounds good and your toe isa tappin' then its pretty much the right stuff. Weather the muscisian is from Chicago, or New Orleans, or Lafayette La. really dont matter none to us. But I guess if you get technical and ask people they may say "well if he is from chicago, he aint a corn fed cajun musician, but he sure the heck sounds darn good yeehaw!"

matter of fact 'not knocking on blues, cause I love it" but if you want my cultural opinion, we dont even consider zydeco, or cajun french music to be blues. Though they have simular elements we think of them as all seperate styles. And yes I know most music steams from blues, just chimming in what we consider different styles of music. In other words if someone says they listening to a "zydeco player" he is just that not a 'zydeco bluesman'. This is all from a ordinary listeners stand point I hope I dont offend, im sure there are different zydeco players that may consider themself blues men if you ask them. But to the average Louisiana fan a cajun french, or zydeco player is just that.

not that there is anything wrong with anyone being reconized as a bluesman, now from the musicians stand points that may be a little different, they know the history of music and know that blues has a big influence on all genres. Just my take on it from down here in the swampland

Zydeco here is kinda like blues "devils music" so gospel music and zydeco have there serparations. But the black gospel churches do play some great soulful gospel music. And sense our roots are cajun creole and zydeco music you can still feel the vibe of those styles in the music. Although you wont hear them playing "dont mess with my toot toot" in church hahaha!
