I've been a huge fan of Lee Morgan both as a leader as a session player. Without a doubt one of my favorite trumpeters, period! While I have a pretty respectable collection of Morgan issues, there are some gaps in my collection. The following releases I don't own:

Charisma
Taru
Caramba
The Sixth Sense
Infinity(OOP and expensive to find)

Can you fellas provide some thoughts on these releases?

I don't think it did. But if you get into that Billy Hart website, you get him talking about the real people.
It's worth it.

If you use the 5 star rating system for Lee Morgan recordings, I'd give Charisma 3 1/2 or 4 stars , not essential but a swingin' date all the same and worth acquiring.

PS I'm contemplating purchasing Fearless Leader. Does anybody have an opinion as to the sound quality ? is it improved enough to warrant an upgrade? Or are they likely RVG remastering candidates?

Of those that you list, I am particularly fond of Charisma. That band (Lee, Jackie, Hank, Cedar, Paul, and Billy) is just unbeatable. They smoke from start to finish.

there is a great live record...I think Bopsediante??? I cant remember the exact title but I have it..It is fantastic.

I've always liked Taru. Some good Bennie Maupin on this recording. I'll have to pull out Infinity and give it a listen since it's been quite a while...

Thanks for the input, fellas. For now I'll place "Charisma" at the top of the list. I have to agree that's one hell of a lineup, Muddy. Many times in the past I had "Infinity" in my hands but wasn't willing to pay the price which most of the times was selling at 18.99. Now that's a bargain compared to what's available on the net.

There is no such thing as a bad Lee Morgan release. It is inevitable that some will be viewed as better than others but they're all good and none of the ones that I purchased were a waste of money IMO.

Everybody looks good at the starting line. Get on your mark,get ready but you better keep this in mind. You can hit the ground running like you're shot from a gun but going the distance is the hard part son. Everybody looks good at the starting line.
