Ike Turner jailed
on outstanding warrant
LOS ANGELES – Ike Turner was held without bail at a downtown jail Wednesday after Los Angeles police had pulled him over for speeding and discovered that he had an outstanding felony drug warrant.
Los Angeles Police Department motor officers spotted Mr. Turner's 2002 Mercedes S-50 driving faster than 80 mph and straddling lanes on the northbound San Diego Freeway on Tuesday night.
He exited the freeway and was pulled over, an LAPD spokeswoman said.
After running a warrants check, officers discovered that the 75-year-old entertainer had a no-bail felony narcotics warrant.
Officers left the Mercedes with an assistant. Mr. Turner was taken into custody and booked at the downtown Twin Towers jail.
