All right, gang, listen up... it's time for another Blindman's Giveaway. We've decided on something a little different this time. As with previous excursions into competitive blues territory, there will be prizes awarded. The showcase will be one that gives each band, individual artist, and all forum members a chance to listen to, and vote for, who they feel is the best from the many players here at The Blindman's Blues Forum. Please follow along for the particulars...
1. All Bands & Artists (excluding forum moderators/mentors) who are forum members will have one week, beginning Monday, April 9th, 2007, to choose and submit one recording from their catalog which they feel best represents their music. The cutoff date for submissions will be Sunday night, April 15th, 2007, at midnight giving every musician one full week to choose what they consider their strongest performance. Please do not submit your entry until the contest opens and make sure your submission is entered before the cutoff date.
2. All band & artist submissions must be sent to the Blindman via email. blindman@the-blindman.com
A page will be set-up by him with all the appropriate links making sure there is a level playing field for everyone submitting a song for the competition. Please do not submit truncated versions of songs which fade out after 30 seconds. Make sure your choice is a complete performance of one song only. Where this is a blues forum, your submission should be from somewhere on the blues tree; Electric Blues, Acoustic Blues, Jump Blues, Blues/Rock, etc.
3. Beginning Monday, April 16th, 2007, and ending Sunday, April 22nd, 2007, all forum members will have one week to listen to, and vote for, their favorite artist or band by sending an email ballot to the Blindman. Members can only vote for bands or artists that are members of The Blindman's Blues Forum.
4. Once the polls close, the Blindman will tabulate the votes by computer. The first place winner will be the band or artist who received the highest number of votes. Second place will be awarded to the band or artist with the second highest number of votes. Third place will be the band or artist with the third highest number of votes. Prizes will vary between first, second, and third place.
5. A drawing will also be held for the non-performing family here at The Blindman's Blues Forum, and one member among the entire voting population will be selected, at random, to receive a prize package including a tee-shirt and CDs.
6. Prize packages have been discussed among the moderators and will include a copy of the Alan Lomax book and accompanying CD, The Land Where The Blues Began, various blues tee-shirts, and numerous CDs.
We feel this includes everyone at the forum as fairly as possible while making sure it gives every band or artist a level playing field. It also gives our membership the opportunity to support the forum and the outstanding gathering of talent, you get to listen to lots of great music you might not otherwise hear, everyone gets to vote for their favorite artist or band, and perhaps land some pretty cool prizes to boot. Forum moderators/mentors will not be allowed to vote.
Remember, this is the week for bands and individual artists to enter submissions to Billy via email. Voting DOES NOT begin (nor will early votes be counted) until Monday, April 16th, 2007.
Entries from bands and artists will be accepted beginning Monday, April 9th, 2007 and run until midnight, April 15th, 2007.
Have fun and good luck to the entire performing community!
