A lot of songs can have a billion meanings, and oftentimes, they seem to be about drugs or sex.

Since there's already a sex thread, I'll do a drugs thread!

Certain songs come to mind:
Hotel California-The Eagles (could very well be about heroin)
Homegrown-Neil Young (Couldn't just be about farming)
La Cucaracha-Traditional (About a weed-smoking cockroach)

I know billions more, but I'm too tired to think of them all right now, so list your own.

Hmpf. J J Cale Cocain.
Clapton covered it.
I actually like JJ's originnal of it better than the cover myself.
I like Danny O'Keefe's The Road as done by Jackson Browne as a song.
Don't like the cocain afternoons line a lot other than it sings well, and do that line as Coffee kinda mornings, white line afternoons, myself, as I can't relate to snorting, but can relate to driving from one gig to the next after a morning spent waking up when on the road.
Makes more sense to me, and is more take it how you see it to boot.
Real good song.

I prefer the Rev Gary Davis' Cocaine to the JJ Cale tune. Also Fred Neil did a similar Cocaine tune but didn't have the bridge I like so much.

For sheer goofiness I always love Commander Cody's "Down to Seeds and Stems Again Too".

Slightly more obscure but fun is Herb Steiner's "Nyquil Blues" made "famous" by Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys.

Champion Jack Dupree (among many others) had at least a few songs based on drug use - Junker's Blues, Can't Kick The Habit, Weed Head Woman come to mind.

Sorry but three of these leave me confused... First John Denver's Leaving on a Jet Plane? Sounds like a song about a lover going on a trip and promising to come home to his love to marry her... Am I missing something in the lyrics?

Puff the Magic Dragon has been used as an example of a 'drug' song but the writers of the lyrics say it doesn't have anything to do with that. BTW: It makes my wife cry when she hears it because of the lyrics being about growing up and putting away childhood things.

Oreo Cookie Blues? Anyone who enjoys a sugar rush and/or has diabeties knows how wonderful a couple of oreo cookies can be...
