It's time to get started for real. Strap on those helmets and cinch those jocks tight, ok, maybe that's not too good an idea. In the words of legendary Pittsburgh broadcaster/Sports Illustrated columnist Myron Cope, "Let us know what's on your cranium pertaining to the National Football League."
I just got the Stillers playoff games from last season on a 4 disc DVD set. It's a joint production of NFL Films and The NFL Network. They use the national network video feed with the local radio broadcast. All the plays are there and they keep things moving without it going blindingly fast like NFL Network's game in 10 minutes packages. I like having the memento of a great playoff run, but it also feels like a 'product', something out there to feed the need of we rapid footbaholics. Is the NFL now too prepackaged and plastic? Is it Big Brother in cleats with no celebration rules and tightly inforced uniform uniforms policies? Or, is it a prime example of how a major sports league should be run?
