Here's a question for you older guys and gals.
How easy was it for you back in the early days, 1960 and onwards, to find or hear some of the early bluesmen and women?
I feel very lucky to be able to find most of the artists I want quite easily. I also didn't have to go through listening to a lot of British bands playing blues, before listening to the 'real deal'.
I understand that Keef got into Robert Johnson from seeing a picture of RJ's album on the cover of Bob Dylan's. Or was it Brian Jones...? And where did Dylan get to hear RJ? I know there was a lot of pirate radio in Britain in the 50's and 60's playing a lot of R & B, which is where a lot of the 60's bands got to hear this stuff. But what of the old 30's recordings of the old blues. What about any Charlie Patton?
So if you have any stories of how it was it would be great to hear.
