An absolute stinkbomb of a game for the U.S. I could not have been more embarrassed to watch them play this badly.

Oh, it was much worse than the score. Lethargic, listless disorganized play by the U.S. team. A defense repeatedly _embarrassed_ by the Czech offense.

Men vs. boys, that's what it looked like today.

I saw all the game and - apart from the result - it didn't seem that bad.

You need to keep in mind that you've played against one of the strongest teams in the World Cup and that the US National team is not that experiencied in terms of international competitions.

In fact the Czechs were already considered the best team of the first ten games.

You still have two games to qualify. And I'd love to see the USA beat Italy next Saturday...

I predict that with all the sports academys/scholarships in the U.S. in 4 years time they may win the World Cup.

That's from a gambling point of view, I don't even like the game.

Tom, If the Us beat Italy, I suggest you celebrate with something more edible (or drinkable, or both) than a Michael Jackson CD.
Something you could still have kids around.
Like champagne and wine, for instance

--especially Canada (Although admittedly, except when it comes to hockey, it doesn't happen all that often)

That's exactly what soccer is all about.

The unpredictability of the result that derives from the balance of forces - 11 guys on each side and a round(ish) ball - is what makes it interesting.

If the US coach wakes up a bit earlier this time I don't see why the US can't beat Italy or any other team. And I'd be happy if that happened.

It's true that sometimes, I've seen weaker teams beat stronger ones, simply because the "star" team just couldn't adapt to the other team's playing, got confused, and lost !

Tom, I'm not saying the US have a poor soccer game playing, but as someone mentionned before, they don't have the experience European's teams have in an international competition.
Same with the Asian teams.
Unless of course they apply the technics shown in that Shaolin Soccer movie !

Today on TV is a game, France vs Switzerland.
I generally don't keep beer at home, but I wonder if I should get me a pack or two, a French team jersey, a pair of shorts and a pair of of sports shoes.
I understand that's how french soccer fans generally watch TV games, don't they ?

But from what I've seen in Spin City, the "rules" seem to be the same wether the "big male" is American and watches baseball or football or he is European and watches soccer.
