Ello Folks! new to the forum, sent here by Walter Tore, Looking for info on Pre-War Acoustic Styles, Been Playing 25 years, always looking to learn though, part of the beauty of the guitar, ya never graduate!

Started in blues and big band swing, went to classic rock, then punk, classic rock now back to the blues!!! Life does run in circles EH? Hope to learn loads and make friends!

Hi Chris and welcome!
I can relate to your "circle" theory, as I'm sure many other BBF'ers will.
The blues starts the circle, and no matter how long it takes you to go around, you always end up being back at this starting point.

Thanks for the welcome, Yes Walter is great, very knowledgable and he's got great road stories. Seems as if he has quite a bit of personal integrity as well. I also love the Sponto-Beat philosophy, that takes courage! Reminds me Lightnin Hopkins "Air Songs", snatching lyrics as they float by you...very cool!

I never do the same tune twice either, The sad thing is, that is not my intent! LOL
Thanks again for the welcomes! It's nice to find kindred spirits!

I love playing with new players, they'll sit there and tell me how good I am, I tell them to feel free to rob any lick they can, as long as they understand they are accepting Stolen Property!

Everyone knows a lick I do not, It's my job to find it, steal it, and scratch off the serial number!

But I do create my own licks ! They are called screw ups! LOL

I merely throw my head back, squint and grit my teeth, rivulets of sweat on my brow, no one notices the dissonance, they think I'm "feelin' it"! LOL

Actually Jorma Kaukonen said a good one, " We guitarists obsess over things that only WE care about!"

It's funny when the same player that behind your back says you're not that good, trys to steal your licks. I've never seen them be able to get any mileage out of the stolen riffs.
It would be like trying to copy Walters songs or style.

Love the line as it is so true. Been playing 40+ years, and still no where near to graduating. I'm the rocker here, and I'm here mainly because I'm a guitar geek. I've been very fortunate to have had pointers and lessons from the likes of George Benson, Freddie King, Howard Roberts, & Joe Satriani.

As you're from Florida, I wonder if you know of the whereabouts of Floyd Radford. He's originally from Gainsville, and he's done time with both of the Winter Bros. He's the one that replaced Rick Derringer when he left Johnny Winter And.

Hey CJ, you're in my stompin grounds!!!! Do I actually know you? West Pasco is a pretty small place and I've been here basically forever, so I wouldn't be surprised if we've run into each other...

Hey Franc!- I think I've met you a few times at some of your gigs, I used to be the singer/guitarist for the Tinglers, I've seen you guys at various places, always loved your band, your harp player Joe used to sit in with The Willies about 10 yrs back whenever we played at Rosies or the Seaside.

Because of work I had to quit the Tinglers, just as well, actually, they wanted to move in "New Rock-Pierced Nipple Bubblegum" direction, anyhow,I'm still good friends with the guys, but everyone involved agrees the change was prolly for the best. They got a new screamer and I get to pursue my first and original muse-the blues. Everybody Happy!

It's funny Franc every time I saw your band, I always wondered why I wasn't doing this music myself! You guys are a great, tight , groovin, tough blues band.
Zackly what I wanna do when I grow up! LOL- Thanks for checkin in, If I can shake loose this weekend, maybe I'll swing by the Boolie-vard and see ya!-Chris Jackson

Oh and Zot, no I have no idea where Floyd Radford is, Gainsville is quite far from here, I'm on the West Coast.

You've had pointers from those folks? Wow, I met GB at Manny's in NY in the 80's, very nice man, spoke a bit, but he was hustled off into a private area with a salesperson. I was 17 and knew who he was but had no clue how important!

Met Les Paul when I was 25, had a beer with him after a show at Fat Tuesday's in NY. He sez, "I Understand You Play Guitar." I looked him dead in the eye and said
" Mr. Paul, after hearing you play, no sir, I do not!"

He laughed.. Hard. I'm proud of that. I made Les Paul Laugh! Also a very sweet person.
