I now have most of Lonnie Johnson recordings, what I'm looking for is a way to complete it.
I need recommendations for his King years, the 1965 session , and the stuff with Otis Spann or any stuff he recorded in Europe.

MM, "Blues and Ballads," and "Folkways Years," are both very good, with "Blues and Ballads" being my favorite of the two.

There are a lot of post-war Lonnie CD's. I recommend searching Amazon for the titles you are missing. Use the negative value (-) to eliminate the Documents. Beyond the various OBC titles others worth owning are:

Sings 24 Twelve Bar Blues (King)
1949-52 (Classics)
Me & My Crazy Self (Charly)
Blues Complete (Westside)
Stompin� At The Penny (Sony/Legacy)
The Unsung Blues Legend: The Living Room Sessions

GB, I have Me & My Crazy Self, from the others only the Classics is available.

As for the Sings 24 12 Bar Blues, it got such a lousy review on allmusic that I wonder wether it's that bad. Anyway it's not available, just wondering about it.

I also wonder wether Classics ever issued 1947-1949.

Sings 24 Twelve Bar Blues sounds like it's transfered from the actual LP of the same name. Although many songs are annoyingly cut short, with the scarcity of compliations based on Lonnie's King material this one should not be overlooked. 1949-52 is Lonnie's first release in the Classics series. Hopefully Ace Records will put together a Lonnie release in their "King & Deluxe Acetate" series. The latest Ivory Joe Hunter set sounds superb.

Tom1960, I have all the Prestige mentioned, one more I can mention that is one of my favorite Prestige is Another Night To Cry. I have 6 Prestige and the Falkways. I'm also thinking about Woman Blues with Spivey because on the song Idle Hours I enjoy her singing to much.

Great Bear, I hesitate about the 1949-1952, as without a 1947-1949 its far from being complete.
I also wonder wether theres any place to get the 1956 recordings the 1960's songs with Duke Ellington , the 1964 King, etc. Those , the stuff with Spann, and the Unsung session are really what I need.

I did not know Otis Spann recorded with Lonnie, and I thought I had all of Spann's recordings.

Just when you think all the good stuff is out on CD, up pops an overlooked gem. And if a CD reissue doesn't happen soon, it may never happen, since CDs are apparently going the way of the dinosaur

I just heard Lonnie's 1964(?) recordings for the AFBF "Lost Blues" double CD reissued a year or two ago. Wonderful stuff. I can only imagine how tasty a guitar-piano duo of him and Spann must sound.

Lonnie also appeared on a Spann Storyville LP (#157) on one cut - Trouble In Mind - recorded at the same 1963 Copenhagen session.

Renemalin, the blues masters series is the one I need, the 20 EUR seems too much though, I have from the same series Big Joe Williams and I recall it was half the price of this cd. However, thinking about Otis Spann and Lonnie Johnson and that the cd is not available elsewhere, I am considering. What FF stands for ?

If I'm not mistaken, Blues Masters Vol. 4 cd contains the Lonnie-Spann recordings.

Since Francs are gone, the franc/euro rate remains the same : 1 euro = 6.55957 FF
To give you an idea, 1.00 EUR= 1.22913 USD or 0.701678 � (UK pound)
I use XE to keep track of the current rates.
For instance, it tells me 1 euro = 5.64316 ILS
